Vehicle accident with fatality in Astoria

The NYPD closed off the vicinity of 43rd Street near 12th Avenue in Astoria reporting a vehicle accident with one dead. This is near Steinway Street. ESU is working to remove all involved. The medical examiner transported the body to conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death. The incident occurred before 9am this morning.

The area is gridlock all around.

Avoid the route.

Ongoing investigation.

Update - Police say a Toyota Corolla was traveling on 42nd Street and struck two men, 42 and 70, who were standing near a food truck. The two pedestrians and the driver died. Also, collided with another vehicle and the driver was not injured.
