Trio arrested for felony gun and drug possession after thruway stop on the I 190 in Buffalo

On July 30, 2026, troopers assigned to State Police Troop T, SP Buffalo and Troop A Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested three individuals on multiple charges for gun and drug possession. 

Shortly before 1:30 a.m. on July 30, troopers from SP Buffalo observed a 2017 Volkswagen traveling southbound in the city of Buffalo on the New York State Thruway (I-190) in violation of vehicle and traffic laws and conducted a traffic stop. During the investigation, troopers observed a clear plastic bag containing a white powdery substance, along with additional controlled substances. Troopers also located an unloaded 3D printed, unserialized handgun (commonly referred to as a ghost gun).  All three vehicle occupants were arrested on the following charges:

 

Vehicle operator Luke J. McCabe, 24, of Groton, NY:

PL, 220.18, 03, criminal possession of a controlled substance, 2nd degree (felony)

PL, 220.09, 04, criminal possession of a controlled substance, 4th degree (felony)

PL, 220.06, 01, criminal possession of a controlled substance, 5th degree: intent to sell (felony)

PL, 220.06, 05, criminal possession of a controlled substance, 5th degree (felony)

PHL, 3345, possession of a controlled substance in non-original container (violation)

PL, 265.02, 06, criminal possession of a disguised gun, 3rd degree (felony)

PL, 265.01-B, 01, criminal possession of a firearm (felony)

PL, 220.09, 04, criminal possession of a controlled substance, 4th degree (felony)
