State Police investigate childs death following incident in Broome county

On July 8, 2026, at approximately 3:00 p.m., New York State Police at Endwell responded to a report of a child in distress at a swimming pool at the Binghamton Country Club on Robinson Hill Road in the town of Union.

Upon the Troopers’ arrival, bystanders and lifeguards had already initiated lifesaving measures for an unresponsive 11-year-old boy. Responding Troopers assisted in those efforts until the child was transported by ambulance to Wilson Medical Center and subsequently flown to Upstate University Hospital. Despite the efforts of everyone involved in the emergency response, the child passed away on July 9, 2026.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation. The official cause and manner of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner’s Office following further examination.

No foul play is suspected at this time.
