State Police arrest Rensselaer man for grand larceny and identity theft

On June 23, 2025, State Police of Schodack arrested George Lovely, 38 of Rensselaer, NY for Identify Theft in the first degree, Forgery in the second degree, Grand Larceny in the third degree, Falsifying Business Records in the first degree and Money Laundering in the fourth degree.

On October 20, 2024, at about 7:03 p.m. Troopers received a complaint from a Rensselaer County resident that a person known to them had taken a loan out in their name without their knowledge or permission. The investigation determined that Lovely allegedly utilized the victim’s identifying information without their permission, forged and falsified business records to apply for a bank loan in the victim’s name without their knowledge. The loan was granted in February 2024 for more than $3,000.  Lovely then allegedly removed the loaned money from the victim's account by multiple means resulting in the theft of more than $3,000.
