Shark update from Nassau County

Nassau County Executive Laura Curran reported there were 19 shark sighting in various beaches. So far no innocent beach goers were attacked by sharks. Curran stated Nassau County police will continue enhanced air and marine patrols to monitor the coast and protect beach goers. Curran also stated Long Island beaches got cleaner and sharks are attracted to warm water that flow from the subtropics and tropics.
