Red wave swept LI while blue did NYC

The result of yesterday’s Election Day was a low turnout as usual but few surprises. The biggest one was the rumble in the Bronx where a Republican won which was controlled by the Democrats since 1983, the District 13.

Well, what happened!

Developers were moving in and people switched sides and now they will have to prey elsewhere including northeast Queens, the area of Glen Oaks, Bellerose, Floral Park and Queens Village along with north New Hyde Park where Democrat won despite a turnout of Republican voters against migrants in the area. Now comes zoning proposals to the area including affordable housing in the Creedmoor lot and the expansion of migrants. The area will be busy with new developments in the coming weeks when the announcements are made soon.

As for Long Island, Suffolk County went red after a long time, 20 years, when Long Islanders went full force to keep it suburban and not city oriented including keeping migrants in NYC. This means the Governor’s plan to expand real estate is now in limbo in Long Island now that Suffolk County joined in the same line as Nassau County. As for other parts of Queens, Whitestone will remain unchanged with zoning after Vickie Paladino, Republican, cruised to victory easily defeating Tony Avella.

Overall, all incumbents won in the NYC Council except 1 seat from the Bronx went to the Republican.
