One portion of squatter law signed by the Governor

The NY Governor signed one part of the squatter law today giving advantage to homeowners. The first part of the law is property owners can call the police to make arrests with evidence in place if the squattor is not a tenant.

The simple step is to give receipts to a tenant of rent paid as the proof. If no proof is shown from squatters, cops can make the arrest. Landlords can refuse lease even if tenants requests but rent transaction is recorded with receipts for evidence for month to month tenancy.

The bill was passed by both Senate and Assembly after public outcry and media reports.
