No new lease for any tenants at the Sunrise Mall in Long Island

The management company that owns the Sunrise Mall in Massapequa has told all tenants none of their leases will be renewed. The management stated they are evaluating various options for the mall's future plan. It will be a commercial development plan only and not for residential.

The shopping mall located on Sunrise Highway will be empty after the last store turns off the lights. So far it has 50 tenants which is half of the occupancy. Macy's is the biggest tenant that is open now.

This is the company statement,

“Like many malls, Sunrise Mall has been buffeted by the changing marketplace, consumer trends, and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. However, no matter what redevelopment plans are ultimately proposed and approved, Urban Edge recognizes its responsibility to seek the input of our neighbors, community leaders, and elected officials to ensure that the property continues to be a significant and positive asset to the surrounding communities.”
