More locals are trying for another chance to stop the casino in Flushing

One group went to the Queens Borough President's Office and supported the casino for Flushing. The Borough President, who is funded by developers, was pleased.

Another group is now gearing up to oppose it and the Borough President is not smiling.

The new group wants to reject the possible casino at Metropolitan Park in Flushing.

As of now, from the statement,

The decision now rests with a new Community Advisory Committee (CAC) that will hold public hearings and vote on a recommendation by September 30, 2025. This recommendation then goes to the state's Gaming Facility Location Board for the final say.

Three licenses for a casino will be announced possibly by December this year and all are anticipating the locations.

The first hearing is on September 9 from 4pm to 7pm at the Queens Borough Hall. The second hearing is on September 16 from 10am to 1pm at the same location.

Both events are open to the public.
