Laurens man arrested on multiple drug and gun related charges

On May 5, 2026, New York State Police arrested Derick Danielsen, age 19 of Laurens after a report of a man pointing a handgun at people.

An investigation by members of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) determined that on May 5, shortly after 2:00 p.m., a couple was operating a vehicle in the village of Laurens when they saw Danielsen follow them in his vehicle out of the village into the town of Oneonta.  The couple reported that Danielson appeared to be holding a handgun, pointing it at their vehicle.  The couple drove to the State Police Barracks in Oneonta to report the incident.

Troopers located Danielson and his vehicle on Louden Drive in the village of Laurens.  Through investigative steps, Troopers seized the following items:

Approximately 2230 grams (4.9 pounds) of cocaine

Approximately 69 grams of ecstasy

Approximately 70 grams of oxycodone pills

Approximately 30 grams of Xanax

Approximately 26 grams of fentanyl

Approximately 2 pounds of cannabis

Approximately 150 THC vape cartridges

A large amount of cash

A semi-auto 9mm ghost gun with a loaded 15 round magazine

A Ruger Max 9, 9mm semi-automatic pistol

A loaded silver .32 caliber revolver

A Remington 12-gauge semi-automatic shotgun

A Mossberg 12-gauge pump action shotgun

A Stevens 12-gauge break action shotgun

Danielsen has been charged with:

Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 1st degree, a class “A-I” felony

Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd degree, a class “C” felony

Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd degree, a class “D” felony

Menacing in the 2nd degreed, misdemeanor

Danielsen was processed at SP Oneonta then transported to the Otsego County Jail for Centralized Arraignment.
