Saint Regis falls man charged with petit larceny drug possession and fleeing police

On April 30, 2026, at approximately 8:09 a.m., New York State Police responded to Stewart’s Shops on Washington Street in the village of Brushton for a reported larceny. An investigation determined that a white 2017 Nissan Titan pulled up to the gas pumps, dispensed approximately $90 worth of fuel, and then left the scene without paying. The operator was later identified as Kyle I. Lucas, age 36, of Saint Regis Falls.

On May 3, 2026, at approximately 1:14 p.m., troopers responded to Walmart on State Route 11 in the town of Malone for a separate larceny complaint. Investigation revealed that Lucas entered the store and stole merchandise valued at $137.67, passing all points of sale without rendering payment.

On May 5, 2026, Lucas was charged in both incidents with Petit Larceny. He was issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Waverly Court at a later date in May.

On May 5, 2026, at approximately 3:03 a.m., troopers responded to Akins Road in the town of Dickinson for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, troopers located a white 2017 Nissan Titan parked partially in the roadway and partially on State Route 11B. Troopers observed a male, later identified as Kyle I. Lucas, asleep in the driver’s seat.

Troopers woke Lucas, who stated he had run out of fuel. As troopers returned to their patrol vehicle to conduct a registration check, Lucas started the vehicle and fled the scene. A pursuit was initiated after Lucas failed to comply with lawful orders to stop.

The vehicle eventually turned into a driveway on High Street in Saint Regis Falls, where Lucas exited and fled on foot. Troopers pursued Lucas on foot, issuing multiple commands to stop, which he refused. A taser was deployed, and Lucas was taken into custody.

A search of Lucas revealed drug paraphernalia and narcotics.

Lucas was transported to SP Malone for processing and charged with:

Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree

Reckless Driving

Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree

Obstruction of Governmental Administration 2nd Degree

Lucas was issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Waverly Court at a later date in May.
