Hospitals dumping turned into robberies around Queens

Local residents living around the hospitals reported robberies and muggings along with larcenies. The NYPD reported most of the incidents occurred in Glen Oaks vicinity of 76th Avenue and 263rd Street followed by the Van Wyck Expressway and Jamaica Avenue. Elmhurst Hospital was not in the list.

Local law enforcement say mostly EDP (emotionally disturbed persons) are removed from a location and then dropped to the hospital for observation. If there were no physical injuries to anyone involved from the original scene of incidents, then hospitals release them after treatments are done.

Several local residents called 911 of being robbery victims after saying the perps need money to go home.

Now local residents are calling for a new action for hospitals to patrol the area or arrange transportation service instead of remaining in the area.

The matter needs to take up with the local community board for the next consideration.
