Domestic dispute leads to stabbing in the town of Herkimer suspect arrested for assault

On June 29, 2025, at 3:28 a.m., State Police responded to a residence on State Route 5 in the town of Herkimer, Herkimer County, for a report of a stabbing.

On arrival, Troopers located a 45 year old male inside the residence with two visible stab wounds to his body.  Troopers interviewed the male who stated that he got into an altercation with his brother, and that his brother stabbed him with a kitchen knife and then fled the residence.

MOVAC Ambulance responded to the scene and transported the male to Wynn Hospital where he was treated for non life threating stab wounds. 

The suspected, identified as Keith M. Lamont, age 40, from Frankfort, NY, was later located in the city of Rome and taken into custody with assistance from the Rome Police Department.
