Cop shot dead identified

He is a 19 year veteran detective and from Forest Hills living in Calverton, Long Island. His name is Brian Simonsen, 42 years old.

He was with 102 Precinct. He had one year left to retire. He is survived by his mother, wife and two kids.

The other office shot in the leg has been identified as Matthew Gorman, an NYPD Sergeant.
