Compassion resulted compost record in NYC

Today, NYC announced a huge record for composting. The number now stands at 5.4 million pounds of food scraps and yard waste by placing them inside a specific container.

New Yorkers follow the law with compassion and love.

To continue with that, the Dept of Sanitation introduced a smaller, 13 gallon bin. You can order them at https://www.bins.nyc/ with your own money only or set up a GoFundMe for others to help you.

Also, residents are also free to use their own bin with a secure lid.

The fine is on hold for now after public outrage with the exception of those with 30 or more units that have received more than four warnings. Buildings with fewer than 30 units have an extended outreach and education period.

According to the DSNY, material collected in DSNY's curbside composting program is either turned into finished compost for parks and gardens, or into renewable energy to heat local homes and businesses reducing the need for fracked gas.

The compost is also distributed to the public for pick-up.

For Queens, there are two locations, Douglaston,

and Astoria, https://www.eventbrite.com/.../2025-bagged-compost-pick...

Check the links for dates and registration is required two weeks in advance for pick ups.
