Attempted burglary changed to trespassing in NYC

The NYC DA's office reported a suspect entering a private premise under the act of burglary but not committed falls under trespassing. As of now, only burglary is classified as breaking and entering into either residential or commercial premise including thefts and damages.

Also, injury to victims inside the premise falls under assault by perps.

This is due to volume of 911 calls received of intruder alerts but when police arrives, they are not able to investigate further unless details are provided.

The mayor's office reported this will reduce the expenses to focus on more real crimes that did happen for further investigation. NYPD states otherwise didn?t respond.
