1 billion here and 770 million there by the NYC mayor and his wife

The mayor's office confirmed The Renewal program, part of the administration to turn around troubled public schools cost the taxpayers $770 million dollars will be discontinued. The program was started in November 2014 with 94 schools that were underperforming heading to closure.

Since then, the number went to 50 after merging and closing while some schools improved. The new program for the same schools will be called, Edu Stat which will follow the same program. On the other side, the mayor's wife, Chirlane McCray program, ThriveNYC on mental health initiative had total budget of $850 million between 2016 and 2019 which will go up to $1 billion every four years.

The NYC Council is already reporting of the required breakdown of services used so far and the budget that treats various conditions from overdose, homeless people with sickness, postpartum depression, births and etc.

For the Queens schools with history of low performance, low capacity for school improvement and low growth on key measures for 2018 to 2019 school year are Flushing High School, Martin Van Buren High School, P.S./M.S 042 R. Vernam, M.S. 053 Brian Piccolo, August Martin High School, Richmond Hill High School, P.S. 111 Jacob Blackwell and Long Island City High School.
