Woman carjacked in Long Island

Police reported a woman was carjacked out of her own driveway in Long Island. The incident was reported on Saturday morning around 12:30am in Coram, Suffolk County.

The alleged suspect, identified as Diorgenis Cruz Torres, 22, of Coram, broke the driver side window while the woman was sitting inside the Volkswagen Tiguan in her driveway after she was followed.

The suspect used a hammer to break the glass and then used a knife on the woman. Then took off with the vehicle.

Police tracked the vehicle to East 58th Street and Sutton Place in Manhattan tracking the woman’s phone inside the vehicle.

The NYPD arrested the suspect and then transferred to Long Island. Cruz Torres is charged with robbery.
