What started by Avella finished by de Blasio

Queen's former City Councilman and also former State Senate of northeast Queens, Tony Avella fought hard with both the city and state to stop issuing violations to homeowners where city tree roots damaged sidewalks. The entire proposal which was added into legislation was started by Avella then with residents of Bellerose, Bayside and etc. The seniors complained but fell on deaf ears after torts pile up in courts. Today, Mayor de Blasio announced homeowners will no longer receive violations for sidewalks damaged by tree roots. Details are being work on with guidelines. Avella has filed for candidacy to run for NYC Council seat for Bayside which is currently occupied by Paul Vallone who will run for the Queens Borough President.
