Two pedestrians dead in Queens after vehicles struck

Police confirmed the death of Alberto Zamacona, 47 after struck by vehicle on December 11 around 8:15pm at Broadway and 61st Street in Woodside. The driver, Jorge Samanego was taken into custody. Zamacona died on Friday from his injuries. Samaniego was charged with assault, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and driving while intoxicated. The same day around 3:15pm, Kwok Cheung, 63 died from injuries on Friday after struck by vehicle on Gates Avenue and Onderdonk Avenue. The driver, Raymond Mersier, 21 was taken into custody after running a stop sign. The investigation continues.
