Train to resume after fire in Malverne

Firefighters reported a work train caught fire this morning around 4am in Malverne. The route to West Hempstead in both directions was suspended and expected to resume in time for rush hour.

Firefighters say it was a freight train and the cause of the fire is under investigation. EMS reported no injuries.

Workers are checking the tracks to ensure all is well to resume services in both directions.
