Traffic stop in Southeast leads to Felony drug arrest

On June 15, 2025, at approximately 3:27 a.m., Troopers from the State Police Brewster barracks conducted a traffic stop on a 2018 Audi traveling westbound on Danbury Road in the Town of Southeast for multiple violations of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.

The driver and sole occupant, identified as Jose A. Gonzalez, 42, of Brookfield, CT, exhibited signs of impairment. He was administered standardized field sobriety tests, which he subsequently failed.

A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted and resulted in the discovery of approximately 12.2 grams of cocaine.

Gonzalez was arrested and charged with the following:

*Criminal Possession of a Narcotic Drug in the 4th Degree – class C felony

*Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree (two counts) – class A misdemeanor

*Operating a Motor Vehicle While Impaired by Drugs (First Offense) – unclassified misdemeanor
