Tomorrow is a new day for street vendors in NYC

The heart of street vending belongs to Queens and it's in Jackson Heights, Elmhurst to Corona. Tomorrow is the first day for street vendors to go out and sell without permits or licenses where they will not be arrested or items will be removed but will issue a summons if necessary.

Under the new Mayor, decriminalization is effective and it works as part of the agenda for NYC to the next level. No more criminal summons but civil which is a huge advantage not disclosed on the federal level to prevent ICE. Also, this is a huge victory especially for food vendors mainly halal kebabs and rice filafil that sells fast on most corners around the city. However, local store fronts are already on the complaint rage where the average rent for retail goes for $10,000 a month plus expenses will be worrisome.

As of this year, around 30,000 vendors are operating without street permits and regulation in place.

The first enforcement starts with the sanitation department and then NYPD with authority to enforce if necessary by issuing summons. A new non-profit and agencies are sprouting to support street vendors to have NYPD not interfere with their illegal operations but carry on all over NYC sidewalks.

This is excellent progress to the new NYC with so many varieties of what is what wherever you all go in the city.

The biggest setups will be all over on Roosevelt Avenue.
