John Bowne high school expansion for next year

The NYC Mayor's office stated the additional building next to John Bowne high school which started the construction will be ready for the school year 2027. This is to alleviate the overcrowding of the main school with 630 new seats. The new four story school will be on Reeves Avenue near Main Street and Horace Harding Expressway. It will cost taxpayers $48.4 million.

The NYC public schools are on expansion mode with more seats and schools.

From the NYC Dept of Education for the year 2025, 7 locations expanded with more seats. They are Queens Innovation Center at 53-16 Northern Blvd with 3,066 seats, PS 26 at 195-02 69th Avenue with 399 seats, PS 160 at 145-14 Glassboro Avenue with 354 seats, Q509 lease renovation at 101-11 104 Street with 229 seats, PS 182 at 88-13 Parsons Blvd with 100 seats, Far Rockaway high school at 8-21 Beach 25th Street with 59 seats and Elmhurst Educational Campus at 45-10 94 Street with 50 seats.

For this year, there are 2,600 new seats with two new schools and three additions under construction.
