Suspect arraigned for the New Hyde Park homicide

Quay-Sean Renard Hines, 30 of St. Albans, Queens was taken into custody on Friday accused of the homicide of Amelia Laguerre, 30 of Hollis. The homicide occurred on March 31 at 1999 Marcus Avenue around 4pm inside the parking garage.

The Nassau County DA’s office stated Hines has been stalking Laguerre for a while after their break-up. On that day, she was shot nine times and then strangled nine times according to Nassau County Police Captain Stephen Fitzpatrick who quoted in the press statement today. After the shooting, Hines went to the local gym in Levittown while police were searching around.

Laguerre lived with her mother and son in Hollis and she was finishing up her shift when the incident occurred.

The Nassau County DA stated,  “Why was she murdered? Because the defendant wouldn’t allow her to go on with her life after their relationship.”

Hines was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead today and charged with second degree murder. More than 30 friends and coworkers showed up in court to hear the charges. She worked at the local medical facility. Hines pleaded not guilty.
