State police arrest Earlton man on criminal mischief and trespass charges

The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Catskill announce the arrest of Michael R. Veeder, age 37, of Earlton, New York, on the following charges:

               • Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree, class A misdemeanor

 

               • Criminal Trespass in the 3rd Degree, class B misdemeanor

The investigation began on April 10, 2026, at approximately 8:09 p.m., when State Police responded to a residence on Bross Street in the Town of Cairo for a reported incident.

The investigation determined that Veeder unlawfully entered the residence of a 36-year-old female victim without her consent while she was present inside the home. The victim requested that Veeder leave the premises, and he complied. However, upon leaving, Veeder took a key fob belonging to the victim. The item was later located in a wooded area near the residence and had been intentionally damaged.

Veeder subsequently reported to the State Police in Catskill, where he was taken into custody and processed without incident.

Veeder was arraigned in the Town of Cairo Court and released on his own recognizance with a return date set for April 21st at 2:00 p.m.

The victim has been issued a stay-away Order of Protection.

The investigation remains ongoing.
