On October 23, 2026, at approximately 6:36 p.m., Troopers from State Police Kingston, members of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Troop F Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to a two-vehicle fatal collision involving a dirtbike at the intersection of Schoolhouse Lane and Main Street in the Town of Hurley.

The preliminary investigation determined that an unregistered dirtbike, operated by an 18-year-old with a 17-year-old passenger, was traveling westbound on Main Street when the driver attempted to pass a 2015 Hyundai. At the same time, the Hyundai was making a left turn onto Schoolhouse Lane, resulting in a collision. The impact ejected both the dirtbike operator and the passenger. Life-saving measures were administered at the scene before both individuals were transported to Kingston HealthAlliance Hospital. The passenger was subsequently pronounced deceased.

The State Police were assisted by the Hurley Fire Department.

The incident remains under investigation.
