On April 24, 2025, at about 10:56 a.m., State Police responded to a home in Fulton, NY, for a 911 hang-up. On arrival, an individual was interviewed and advised that 911 was called because Grinmanis, who is known to the victim, had come to the home and was refusing to leave. Grinmanis had left before law enforcement arrived. Troopers patrolled the area but were unable to locate Grinmanis.

On the same day, at about 3:59 p.m., an additional 911 hang-up was received from the location. On arrival, Grinmanis was observed running from the home into the surrounding woods. With the assistance of the Schoharie County Sheriff’s Office, a foot pursuit was initiated, and Grinmanis was taken into custody.

The investigation determined that Grinmanis reported returned to the home once Trooper left the area and forcibly entered it through a basement window, using a crowbar. Once he was in the home, the victim attempted to flee from Grinmanis, who allegedly held them against their will and obstructed their breathing using his hands. The victim was able to dial 911 and when Trooper arrived Grinmanis attempted to flee. Further investigation discovered a court-issued stay-away order of protection against Grinmanis, protecting the victim was in place at the time of both incidents.
