Socialist politician from NYC moved to luxury building in DC

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., 29, who earns $174,000 per year moved into a luxury apartment in DC's Navy Yard complex, an expensive neighborhood where poor people are not allowed.

The self described socialist who is pushing the Green New Deal stating, safe, affordable, adequate housing for all has many constituents in Queens and the Bronx with more anger. The rent is over $2,000 per month which is similar to $5,000 in Manhattan.

The average one bedroom in DC's politician neighborhood is $1,300. Ocasio-Cortez repeatedly criticized luxury real estate developers during her campaign, claiming that their buildings hiked up rent prices and pushed low-income residents out of their neighborhoods.

The building offers pool, lounge and more features.

Her staff reported she can barely afford to pay rent for DC and NYC while other members of house and congress chose to live together or bunk up in their office to save costs. Of $174,000 salary, the take home pay is between 10,000 and 11,000 per month after taxes. Ocasio-Cortez's staff confirmed she still use Amazon and shop at Whole Foods after claiming victory blocking the company from setting up H2Q in Long Island City.

As of today, she still doesn't have an office in her NYC district but use mobile locations in public places from library to community centers to serve her constituents.
