Shoplifting data shows two spots still on

The NY Governor in a desperate attempt for re-election campaign was in Harlem today telling all that shoplifting is down by 12% after Albany passed a bill on retail theft crackdown in NYC.

As for NY state, it was down by 5%.

The law was passed after local retailers, small mom and pop stores and other vendors went marching to the Mayor and Governor's office demanding action.

The governor added $40 million taxpayer funds to fight organized crime gangs for local law enforcement and tax credits for small businesses facing losses. As of now, retail thefts continue to remain stable at the average of 40 to 50% loss for small businesses forcing them to lock up items with keys compared to over 50% before President Trump took office.

Two spots remain untouched for shoplifting crimes. They are Canal Street in Chinatown and Jackson Heights in Queens. These two locations remain hotspots for stolen items. The Governor will not respond to those two locations and why a visit will never happen to address the issues. As for Operation Restore Roosevelt, the NYPD is now on limited operation while the major scenarios are now under federal operation.
