Search warrant leads to drug seizure and arrests in Schuyler

On April 29, 2025, members of the New York State Police Troop D Violent Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team (VGNET), with assistance from the NYSP Special Investigations Unit, NYSP Counter Terrorism Intelligence Unit, NYSP K9 Unit, and uniformed troopers, executed a search warrant at a residence located at 3647 State Route 5 in the Town of Schuyler, Herkimer County.

The operation resulted in the seizure of over 12 grams of crack cocaine, more than $1,900 in U.S. currency, as well as drug packaging materials and digital scales.

Two individuals were taken into custody:

Shawn R. Adams, 49, of New York Mills, NY

Jelmel Drummond, 30, of Frankfort, NY

Both Adams and Drummond were charged with:

Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree (Intent to Sell) – Class B Felony

Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th Degree (Possession of 1/8 ounce or more) – Class C Felony

Following arraignment in Herkimer County Centralized Arraignment Court, Adams was remanded to the Herkimer County Correctional Facility without bail. Drummond was remanded on $20,000 cash bail or $75,000 bond.
