Police activity on Long Island involving over 100 dead cats

The SCPD is at a location on Long Island reporting a call came in for a heavy odor of foul smell around the neighborhood. Further investigation confirmed over 100 dead cats inside a home in Bohemia. This is in the vicinity of Westminster Drive near Lakeland Avenue in Suffolk County.

The SPCA is also on the scene assisting with the search and rescue of live cats.

Police say the cats were found in a large freezer inside the home after a warrant was issued. Hazmat crew is enroute for clean up.

Neighbors are shocked and upset with the incident reported. Locals are advised not to be near the vicinity while police are setting up the perimeter. Additional details on the occupants are not released by the police.

A press release will be issued once the information is available for the public.

The investigation continues.

Update - As per the latest count there were 24 dead cats found so far. More works are underway.
