Pedestrian fatally struck by a vehicle in Rosendale

The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) at Kingston announce the arrested Alex B. Brown, age 34, of New Paltz, NY, on January 17, 2025. Brown was charged with Operator Leave Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death (D Felony) and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree (Misdemeanor) for driving with a revoked license.

The investigation revealed that on January 16, 2025, at approximately 8:19 p.m., a 2013 Toyota operated by Brenda Fisher, age 74, of Kingston, NY, was traveling northbound on State Route 32 in the town of Rosendale when, Victoria Cooper, age 37, of Kingston, NY, entered the roadway and was struck by Fisher’s vehicle.  Cooper came to rest in the southbound lane and was subsequently run over by Brown, who was operating a 2008 Subaru Forester.  Fisher remained on scene and contacted 911, however Brown fled the scene.  Cooper was pronounced deceased at the scene.  Following the investigation, Brown was arrested and charged in connection with the aforementioned offenses.

Brown was arraigned in the Ulster County Centralized Arraignment Part where he was remanded to the Ulster County Jail with bail set at $5,000 cash, $10,000 bond.  Brown is scheduled to appear in the Town of Rosendale Court on January 22, 2025 at 5 p.m.

This investigation remains ongoing.
