One mess on Sunrise Highway by the local mall in Valley Stream

The NCPD reported a single vehicle accident on Sunrise Highway.

Police say on Friday around 5pm, a lone driver inside a 2023 Audi was not moving on the middle lane of Sunrise Highway when 911 calls came in of an unconscious stage during rush hour.

This is by the local mall near Sonic Restaurant in Valley Stream.

Police arrived shortly and tapped on the window. This is when the driver, a resident of Queens, woke up and hit the gas pedal accidentally striking another vehicle and overturned.

EMS reported a police officer was also injured.

Further investigation from the Nassau County DA's Office reported the driver was taken into custody after drugs were allegedly found in the system and inside the vehicle. The driver also failed to show proper documents of the vehicle ownership.

Charges are pending.

The investigation continues.
