Officers rescue two reptiles in Suffolk County

Not even reptiles can run from the Suffolk County Police.

First Precinct police officers responded to a call regarding a 3-foot iguana outside a residence on Hawthorne Street in Deer Park on August 23 at approximately 11 a.m. When officers arrived, the iguana tried to escape, and fled into the yard of a residence on Ithaca Street.

Officers followed the reptile and located a second iguana, that was twice the size, waiting for his friend.  The officers were determined not to give up. A resident joined them and together the group secured both iguanas.

Officer Donald Conste and one of the two iguanas posed for a photo before they were taken to Jungle Bobs Reptile World in Selden.
