Off duty cop killed himself in Bellerose

Police reported an off duty cop died of self inflicted wound from the assigned service revolver in Bellerose. The incident was reported around 12:45pm. Further investigation reported the officer was sitting in the driver's seat when found after calls came earlier of shots fired in the in the area. The city's medical examiner transported the body to a local hospital.

The officer was in the force for 3 years and was stationed at the local 28th Precinct.

Correction - From sources, shot spotter activity was located to Brookville Park in Rosedale. Police closed off Lansing Avenue and 232nd Street after the vehicle was found. The officer lived in Bellerose.
