Off duty NYPD Sergeant shot himself and dead in Fresh Meadows

MOS involved self inflicted shooting on Union Turnpike and 178 Street. Heavy NYPD personnel transporting the victim to the nearest hospital closing side roads of Union Turnpike enroute. Reporting the MOS was an off duty NYPD Sergeant. His wife called 911 after saw him in the pool of blood around 8pm in their house. The officer died at the hospital.
