New bill introduced to accept cash at all NYC locations

The NYC Council introduced a new bill to allow all businesses in NYC to accept cash for all transactions.

Some businesses in NYC doesn't accept cash but only credit or debit cards. The Councilman who introduced the bill, Ritchie Torres stated the new bill if passed would have a advantage for low income and undocumented people in NYC.

If businesses fail to oblige, then a violation will be issued by NYC Dept of Consumers.

Torres also stated more than 25% people in NYC doesn't have bank accounts or cards of any types.

The bill is awaiting for next step for Dept of Consumers to pass, then to the City Council and to the mayor to sign to become law. Although the IRS stated the cash business will have more work to track down from deadbeats who doesn't pay taxes.
