New Hyde Park woman arrested in the fatal vehicular accident on Union Turnpike

Police arrested Nirmala Golder, 65 of New Hyde Park and charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian and failure to exercise care after a pedestrian died from the vehicule accident.

The incident happened on October 3 on Union Turnpike near Lakeville Road around 7:15am when a pedestrian identified as Little Neck resident Kim Ma, 34 who later died at the hospital.

Golder was making a left turn from Lakeville Road onto Union Turnpike when Ma was struck.

Ma was crossing the middle of the street and Golder remained on the scene. Golder cooperated with the police. She was given a ticket to appear in court on October 30.
