The Nassau County Executive Office announced the honoring of Left Paw in New Hyde Park for helping a military veteran with another dog after the original one died from hit and run. The pet store located on 411 Jericho Turnpike gave their customer Phoebe Ervin a Pomeranian puppy much to her rejoice.

On May 13, the original one died from hit and run after loose from his leash. Phoebe was out of town when it happened as her friend was walking the dog. The driver has not been found. She called Sarah where she got the original one from and explained.

The owner of Left Paw Sarah Greenstein stated to the media, "Phoebe has served our country, and she has made it possible for someone like me to have the freedoms that I have. I'm very thankful for that, so when she needed us, we had to step up."
