Money is growing fast on NYC trees

As of Friday, July 9, 201,000 students enrolled in the DOE’s Summer Rising in NYC. The breakdown from K to 8 is 86,000, grade 3 to 8 is 12,000, High School is 80,000. The D75 and Extended School Year enrollment is 23,000. The NYC mayor announced summer youth programs with a budget of $134 million for cleaning up instead of using the Dept of Sanitation, graffiti removal, planting flowers, etc for 14 to 24 year olds. The mayor’s office stated around 75,000 have enrolled for $15 an hour at 12,000 locations for 6 weeks. On top of the $134 million, the NY governor announced $138 million statewide for community programs, more summer jobs and training to combat gun violence. This came after the governor on Tuesday declared a state of emergency over gun violence taking more lives than RONA. Another $225 million will be reserved for non-profits for salaries to educate hate crimes and why it’s bad for you. Lastly, the NYC public schools will receive $635 million for post pandemic recovery. The budget will increase to over $1 billion in the upcoming months until elections invite all to get out and participate in anything instead of staying home for $15 an hour for all. Contact your local non-profits for jobs in the area. Here is the list for the city, https://working.nyc.gov/opportunities/
