NYC public schools will not close under Governor Cuomo

Priority is kids meals. Mayor de Blasio or City Council can't veto. Schools will close if anyone affected by the coronavirus temporarily for quarantine and re-open within 24 hours. Cuomo also stated working parents can't afford to stay home with kids especially the health care. Cuomo stated just now in a press statement by leaving the decision to locals but stated the state does NOT believe the numbers at this point necessitate a state wide school closure.

As pressure mounts for NYC school closures, experts say:
-Closure will NOT be as effective if 1.1m kids aren't also mostly self-isolating. Closure will = broader shutdown
-Schools would have to close for extent of virus to be most effective
