NYC landlords are screwed but tenants are smiling

On Wednesday, August 9, NYC Council launched a new bill, Intro960 and Intro 918 and already 99% building owners who allocate tenants are furious. The bill which Mayor di Blasio agreed to sign would require all building owners housing tenants must provide notice of repairs and other construction projects. This includes a new room, bathroom, extension and etc which must be done with permits. Also, the bill must update status of complaints brought by tenants for repair requests. All services must send tenants with priority notice for repairs and construction with updates by building owners. This is due to many building owners signing with affidavit of the complaint paper which is often the blue form without repairs to NYC Dept of Building. Another bill is Intro1548A which allows landlords to visit tenants during business hours and not off hours for anything. The latter act will be harassment if the law passes.
