NYC Park Dept responded to the Glen Oaks public park on the weekend closure

On Wednesday, January 31st, concerned parents and children living around the Glen Oaks public park on 260th Street and 75th Avenue received response from 311 and NYC Park Dept. The message shows that president of Glen Oaks Little League locked the public park to prevent ATVs from damaging the field. However, surveillance video gathered from neighbors by residents showed no ATVs ever been in the public park. Several people with the management of Glen Oaks Little League reported the park was closed by NYC Park Depts but the letter stated otherwise. From the surveillance video, handicapped dogs in wheelchairs were having their time along with dogs and people inside. One person with Glen Oaks Little League reported kids riding their bicycles have damaged the field. Also the concern is to have the field in good condition for their upcoming baseball games from April to November. The NYC Park Dept reported any public parks before closing will show message of reason and that was not displayed in writing.
