Mother and child struck by vehicle in Whitestone

Police closed off the intersection of Cross Island Parkway and 150th Street reporting a mother and child struck by vehicle. It happened around 10am. Both are taken to local hospitals. This was involving a commercial truck. The truck driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with the police but reported taken into custody for driving without a license. The latest update is the 40 year old mother died and the 18 month old female child is in the hospital with injuries. Ongoing investigation.
