More hotels in Queens are slated to close

Bye hotels hello affordable housing.

As of this month, 8 hotels are closing doors for good in Queens.

The Hilton at JFK will close on June 1.

The Holiday Inn on Horace Harding Expressway in Fresh Meadows is shutting down along with three others in Long Island City, La Quinta in Corona and another Hilton in Flushing.

At the same time, office buildings are under process to convert into affordable housing to meet the Governor's goal of 800,000 units from NYC to Long Island.

With the pandemic expired, the homeless to hotel program is also ending and will be phased back to shelters run by nonprofits.

Developers are all moving forward with full speed to build affordable housing without restrictions.
