Massena male arrested for criminal mischief and resisting arrest

On January 27, 2025, State Police members arrested Stephen W. Smutz, age 30, of Massena, NY, for (2 counts ) criminal mischief and resisting arrest.

On January 27, 2025, at approximately 3:26 p.m., State Police members responded to Meadow Street in the town of Louisville for a report of criminal mischief complaints. An investigation determined Smutz was shooting BBs at his neighbor's windows, causing damage. While Smutz was being interviewed regarding the complaint and an active bench warrant he had, he started to resist the Troopers by hiding in a closet and actively fighting with them.  Smutz was detained and placed into custody.

Smutz was arrested and transported to SP Massena for processing. He was arraigned in the Town of Massena Court and released on his own recognizance.
