Manhattan s first beach without swimming to open this summer

Hudson River will open this summer as the first beach for Manhattan. The 14,000 foot stretch will be in the Meatpacking District just north of West 12th Street along the Gansevoort Peninsula with sands.

In five years, the East River in Williamsburg will have the same model for the public. Another one also in five years is the Brooklyn beach.

However there will be no swimming allowed for now. Not even wading but kayaking is allowed for a fee.

So first kayak, then wading and finally swimming within the time frame to adjust the lifestyle on the beach.
