Man impersonates police officer Garden City Park

The Third Squad reports on an arrest of a Garden City Park man for a robbery that occurred on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at 9:00 AM in Garden City Park. According to Detectives, a 44-year-old female was walking eastbound on 4th Street when defendant Alif Chowdhury, 33, of Nassau Boulevard residence, presented what appeared to be a badge and stated that he was a Police Officer. Defendant Alif Chowdhury began to verbally yell at the victim before forcefully taking a phone from her hand before attempting to restrain her. The victim was able to flee the scene and contact Nassau County Police. No injuries reported at scene. Following an investigation, defendant Alif Chowdhury was located at his place of residence and placed under arrest without further incident. Defendant Alif Chowdhury is charged with Robbery 3rd degree and Criminal Impersonation of a Police Officer 1st degree. He will be arraigned on Friday, June 2, 2023, at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
