Man charged with attempted murder following dispute in Meredith

On June 10, 2026, at approximately 9:00 p.m., New York State Police arrested Ryan H. Gregory, 26 of Coram, New York, following a neighbor dispute that resulted in a man shot.

The investigation reveals that around 2:00 p.m., there was a dispute between Gregory and a neighbor on Houghtaling Hollow Road. During the altercation, Gregory shot the victim and two unoccupied vehicles.

The victim, a 57-year-old male from Meredith, sustained non-life threatening injuries and transported himself to A.O. Fox Hospital in the city of Oneonta.  He was later transported to Albany Medical Center for further treatment.

Troopers subsequently located Gregory at his residence on Houghtaling Hollow Road where he was in possession of firearms and refused commands to surrender.

Following several hours of negotiations with Investigators and members of the New York State Police Crisis Negotiation Unit, Gregory surrendered without incident.

Gregory was transported to SP Oneonta, where he was charged with:

Attempted Murder in the 2nd degree, a class “B” felony

Criminal Use of a Firearm in the 1st degree, a class “B” felony

Additional charges are likely.

Gregory was processed then transported to the Delaware County Jail for Centralized Arraignment.
